Carl E. Smith

Carl E. Smith is a multidisciplinary arts professional whose 25-year career spans fine art, design, education, and cultural advocacy. He has developed acclaimed personal projects, founded platforms that elevate emerging voices, and fostered meaningful relationships across commercial and fine art industry sectors.

As a creative director, Smith has developed brands, content, products, and visual design systems for an international group of clients. As a gallery director, Smith has organized influential exhibitions, participated in international art fairs, and produced immersive endemic events for the past two decades. In addition, he has supported artists on a myriad of commercial and fine art platforms, including his series of specialized workshops for emerging artists. His commitment to arts advocacy manifests in his further education in the humanities and related projects.

Currently, Carl serves as Director of Design at Laguna Art Museum and sits on the City of Laguna Beach Arts Commission, where he continues to shape public engagement with the arts.
